Our startup journey has been a humbling experience, especially our grant funding success. We were not selected for the first two times we applied, but we still felt like winners. We learned so much from DOST PCIERD’s feedback and got so much guidance from our incubator, UPGRADE (UP Mindanao’s technology incubator). We even launched our MVP much sooner and launched the platform with our basic package in the market because of the many feedback the PCIEERD team gave us.
Not only that, two of the most important milestones that happened because of the first two attempts are:
We received a bridge funding Grant from UPSCALE in partnership with UPERDFI & ACCENTURE because of the improvements we implemented from the first 2 applications and the learnings from it.
We formed a really important partnership with The Philippine Construction Association (PCA). The PCA is Recognized as the “voice of the construction industry” and the group handles an average of 70% to 80% of the annual construction turnover of the country. This partnership is instrumental for many things including access to licensed contractors that can test our platform and provide feedback for continued improvement and many others.
We almost let our frustration get the best of us after our 2nd try. Indeed, grit, perseverance, being open to feedback and learning new things is truly great – we pursued the 3rd time, and here we are, now with paying customers and a much clearer path on how we can strengthen our AI solution that is part of our unique value proposition and sets us apart from existing project management platform for construction. The work that we have done under our R&D with UPSCALE is the foundation of our year-round R&D with the DOST Startup Grant program. We are so honored that we were one of the few who got into the program. On behalf of my co-founders, thank you and we intend to give back to the UPSCALE startup family by extending help to those who are starting.
